On did what we should all do when confronted by these spinmeisters: call out their lies, point out their tactics, and marginalize them. Then wonderful things like this happen...
Betsy McCaughey — an outspoken proponent of the myth that Democrats’ health care reform proposals will lead to the creation of “death panels,” as well as a former lieutenant governor of New York and adjunct fellow at the Hudson Institute — has stepped down from her position as a director of Cantel Medical Corp., which bills itself as a “leading provider of infection prevention and control products in the healthcare market.”
Ex-VECO Corp. CEO Bill Allen discussed the work while testifying in the corruption trial of former state House Speaker Pete Kott.
Allen and former VECO Vice President Rick Smith pleaded guilty in May to extortion, conspiracy and bribery of legislators.
Under cross-examination by Kott's defense attorney James Wendt, Allen acknowledged that the more than $400,000 he admitted spending in the bribery charge was for other legislators _ and for work done at Stevens' home in Girdwood.
"I don't think there was a lot of materials," Allen said. "There was some labor."
The workers were VECO employees, probably one to four at a time, Allen said. He said the work lasted for "probably a couple of months." Later, he said it might have been as much as six months.
You mean the Alaskan Senator who gave us "The Bridge to Nowhere" is guilty of corruption and accepting bribes? Perish the thought... I wonder if he is going to throw another hissy fit?
TIt is my opinion that Ted Stevens won the coot-off
I just finished this book and i have to say that in my opinion it is the best book i've ever read and i think if you truely a free thinker and have a sense of humor you should have this book already. it starts with Don Rumsfeld waking up in hell and meeting his old friend Ken Lay, only to find out that Ken is now a representative of the devil and that now Rumsfeld must got through a trial of witness for and against him to decide which level of hell he will go to when he dies. the witnesses are from past and present, dead and alive, and range from Jon Stweart to Former President Harry Truman. i have never laughed sooo hard from a single book ever in my life, my favorite part was when Groucho and Chico Marx interview Dick Cheney, it was priceless, i suggest that each and every one of you go out and get a copy of this book before both men find out about it's presense and have it banned.
It's obviously been a while since this originally aired, but since I was showing a new poster some old videos I thought that it would be nice if we all revisited this clip where Jon Stewart exposes Larry King for the horse's ass that he is.
I never bought the media's attempt to brand John McCain as a "maverick" and I was discussing this with Nash last night at how much McCain has revealed himself to be the sell out maggot that he is. Shortly after, Nash looked up this video on youtube, so I figured I might as well feature it. Look for McCain to hide behind the troops when Jon Stewart asks too serious of a question.
I posted this because while I was in San Antonio I may have mentioned on multiple occurrances that I believe Nancy Grace is a complete cunt. I had also brought up the fact that her whole career rests on her perverted idea of justice: that people are to be presumed guilty before proven innocent. So if you are reading this, Jeff this one is for you.
Incredible, this managed to be less funny than Dennis Miller. Now that is an accomplishment. Listen to the forced laughter from the audience of six people. Seriously, I find Drew Carey and Kelsy Grammer more entertaining than this. This is a poor knock off of the Daily Show without the wit. Ironically, I find it funny that FNC feels that the Daily Show is somehow a mouth piece for the Democratic Party. Hardly, Jon Stewart makes fun of the spectacle of political theatre that somehow passes for discourse in this country. He asks pointed questions and makes fun of stupidity no matter what side of the aisle it comes from.
Contrast the thinly veiled racist jokes and hatchet job on Obama featured above to this immortal moment in history when Jon Stewart brought CNN's Crossfire to its knees, which ultimately was responsible for the cancellation of the show.
I know it is the day after 9-11, but I just got home. I wasn't even going to post something because I am absolutely disgusted with the media orgy of propaganda, politics, and oppurtunistic fearmongering. One station even had realtime covererage of September 11th, 2001!!!
And people wonder why I am so cynical.
Then I saw this, and it reminded me of that day... That there were people who saw it firsthand. So instead of the usual cheese dick memorials or political slanted docudramas; I figured I would present something of real emotional content, from a man I have undying respect for.
Since we are on the topic of Jack Abramoff and the scandals involved I thought this video was appropriate considering how it starts out. What I find interesting in this exchange is how Larry King repeatedly tries to get Jon Stewart to say that he likes it that things are going wrong in America as if to say Jon Stewart feeds off of misery. At one point Jon exclaims "Are you insane?!?"
