Quote du Jour
You know I was trying to think about who he was tonight and it's interesting... he is post-racial by all appearances. You know I forgot he was black tonight for an hour.
--Chris Matthews on Obama's State of the Union address
Damn Tweety, I can't give you the Douche Bag award twice in the same month... Pace yourself man.

My rant on Tea-baggers
I originally did not want to post this: It is full of crude language, is unscripted and really doesn't have a point. Still, it does sum up how I feel about this astro-turf movement of useful idiots who are garnering so much attention of the so call liberal media as a group of patriotic concerned everyday Americans just looking out for their rights. But since no one else in the media is willing to say it, I guess I am going to have to. Special thanks to Justin for editing this travesty of a mockery of a sham.
This obviously before I shaved my head.

Robert McNamara, dead at 93
Excerpted from The Boston Globe:
Say what you will about him but at least he was smart enough spot Operation Northwoods for the travesty it was. Vietnam was bad but it could have been even worse had we engaged Cuba like Lemnitzer wanted to.
Besides the Defense Department, Mr. McNamara led two other institutions of global importance. He became the first non-family member to serve as president of the Ford Motor Company, in 1960. He was also president of the World Bank from 1968-81.
Yet Mr. McNamara is best remembered — and in some quarters still reviled — for the seven years he spent at the Pentagon and the part he played in waging the Vietnam War. The controversy that erupted in 1995 when he published his memoir, “In Retrospect: The Tragedy and Lessons of Vietnam,” demonstrated the extent to which the scars he bore remained unhealed.
No one person can be assigned responsibility for escalating the US role in the conflict. Presidents John F. Kennedy and Lyndon B. Johnson, national security adviser McGeorge Bundy, Secretary of State Dean Rusk: Each played his part. To many, though, it was “McNamara’s war,” as US Senator Wayne Morse of Oregon once put it.
“I don’t object to its being called McNamara’s war,” Mr. McNamara said during a 1964 press conference. “I think it is a very important war, and I am pleased to be identified with it and do whatever I can to win it.”
Those words would come to haunt him.
Say what you will about him but at least he was smart enough spot Operation Northwoods for the travesty it was. Vietnam was bad but it could have been even worse had we engaged Cuba like Lemnitzer wanted to.

Keith Olbermann takes Dick Cheney out to the wood shack
Keith cuts through Cheney's fear mongering and exposes it for what it is: the fear Cheney has for being held accountable.

Homer tries to vote for Obama
Since we are already talking about Homer, I thought this was appropriate... Well at least more than the cartoon I did when I was younger...

Watching the Final Debate
It's nice to see Obama setting the record straight about Bill Ayers. McCain's smirk reminds me of another smirking asshole, one that has almost destroyed this country. It's funny that everytime McCain interjects it is almost guarenteed that the undecide voters opinion meters drop.
Finally verdict: Obama comes off as wonkish but knowing his stuff. I wish he would refute McCain's character assassination remarks a little more aggressively. McCain comes off as a desperate attack Chiuahua. He smirks and rolls his eyes like a spoiled third grader. He attacks Obama at every question and mischaracterizes Obama's record. Obama comes off like a big dog that just puts up with the yipping little pest.
Obama won this one yet again, stick a fork in McCain, he's done.
Obama: You look too comfortable and let McCain get too many digs in. The most notable missed oppurtunity: McCain called Obama out for not condeming John Lewis' comments regarding McCain's smear ads and the resulting "he's a terrorist" and "kill him" remarks uttered at his and his running mate's speeches. Your response should have been: "Why are accusing me of not repudiating John Lewis' comments when you haven't even bothered to apologize or distance yourself from comments from your running mate and your own wife insinuating I hang out with terrorists?" Oh and Pot? The kettle is on line two waiting to talk to you about your complexion.
Thank Dog this is over, if anyone else brings up Joe the Plumber tonight while I am out, I will hand them their balls.

Palin's pastor asking Jesus to protect her from all forms of witchcraft.
No, seriously. It is amazing that in a time where we have put men in space, decoded the human genome, and made cookies and cream into an ice cream flavor, that we can have a candidate belong to a church this crazy and still be politically viable. But it is even worse than you might imagine: Sarah Palin's pastor, Thomas Muthee, is a witch hunter... Excerpted from The UK Times:
According to the Christian Science Monitor, six months of fervent prayer and research identified the source of the witchcraft as a local woman called Mama Jane, who ran a “divination” centre called the Emmanuel Clinic.
Her alleged involvement in fortune-telling and the fact that she lived near the site of a number of fatal car accidents led Pastor Muthee to publicly declare her a witch responsible for the town’s ills, and order her to offer her up her soul for salvation or leave Kiambu.
Says the Monitor, “Muthee held a crusade that “brought about 200 people to Christ”.” They set up round-the-clock prayer intercession in the basement of a grocery store and eventually, says the pastor “the demonic influence – the ‘principality’ over Kiambu –was broken”, and Mama Jane fled the town.
So here we stand at the crossroads of history and the sign post reads "21st Century & the Salem Witch Trials."
Speaking of witchcraft, isn't weird how his voice changes 13 seconds into the video?
"It's witchcraft, wicked witchcraft"

"and although I know it's strictly taboo..."
Thanks Frank, your words become more and more prophetic as the days pass.

McCain and Charles Keating
In the 1980's there was a scandal involving a man named Charles Keating and the company he looted from: Lincoln Savings & Loan. Much like the current situation this country (and now apparently the world) is dealing with, this mass robbery caused the markets to plummet and was the natural result of greed and deregulation. And if the almost prophetic parallels weren't enough, guess who at the center of it pushing for said deregulation?
A: John McCain. While the particulars are complex and difficult for laymen (like moi) to comprehend or explain, this video does so nicely in about thirteen minutes. So before you caste your vote for who you think should hold the reigns of the country, it might behoove you to bone up on a little precursor to this current economic crisis and look into the Keating Five.

Conservatives scare easier than Liberals
Excerpted from the UK Times:
Of course I already knew this considering I grew up around this crap my whole life...
In the study, the scientists recruited 46 volunteers living in Lincoln, Nebraska, all of whom had strong political beliefs. They were asked for their opinions on a wide variety of controversial issues. All the questions concerned social or international issues, rather than economic matters.
The participants were then given two laboratory tests, to establish their physiological responses to frightening or unexpected stimuli. In the first test, they viewed 33 images, three of which were distressing or threatening: a large spider on the face of a frightened person; a dazed person with a bloody face; and maggots in an open wound. The scientists measured the electrical conductance of the skin, a standard measure of distress and arousal.
In the second test, the volunteers were subjected to a loud, unexpected noise, with scientists measuring the involuntary blinking that followed. A strong startle response is indicative of heightened fear and arousal. The results, which are published in the journal Science, revealed significant differences in both responses, which corresponded with people’s political views. Those with “markedly lower physical sensitivity to sudden noises and threatening visual images” tended to support liberal positions, while those with strong responses tended to be more conservative.
This would fit with the hypothesis that people who have more fearful responses to perceived threats are more likely to be conservative, while those who have weaker responses develop more liberal views.
Of course I already knew this considering I grew up around this crap my whole life...

Not only is Palin inspiring as cardboard...
...but is a bald faced liar as well. In her RNC speech she once again claimed that she stood up against the bridge to nowhere, but that is not true. Only after the story started getting negative attention did she back away from it as this interview from the Anchorage Daily News clearly records.
So you see, she was for it before she was against it. Wow, that joke works both ways.
ADN: Would you continue state funding for the proposed Knik & Gravina Island bridges?
Palin: Yes I would like to see Alaska's infrastructure projects built sooner rather than later. The window is now--while our congressional delegation is in a strong position to assist.
--The Anchorage Daily News October 22, 2006

Guliani speaks...
And apparently there is a Hell and it is frozen because Guliani made it through a speech and only said "911" once.
Huckabee doesn't want the gubment telling him to inflate his tires...
He would rather his tires resemble his view of the Earth... flat.
What did Obama say about these tools? Oh yeah, "it is like they take pride in being ignorant."
What did Obama say about these tools? Oh yeah, "it is like they take pride in being ignorant."
Can somebody tell Mitt Romney...
who has been in power of all three branches of government up until 2006? Because I thought I heard him say that basically every legislation, supreme court decision, and any semi-sane policy was liberal. Oh and the tired joke of Al Gore's plane was fucking hillarious. too bad Rush Limbaugh and every other knucke dragging water carrier has kicked that dead horse... And no that is in no way a clever or intellectually honest rebuttal to Al Gore's work spreading the truth about global warming.
Al Gore recieved a Nobel Peace Prize for that by the way, what do you have Mitt? ...besides an uncanny resemblence to Guy Smilie.

911 Truth signs behind Tweety
While observing the self congradulatory circle jerk of "change" and challenging of "beltway insider politicians" snake oil that the incumbant Republican party is selling at the RNC, I noticed that behind Chris Matthews were protesters with signs saying "911 was an inside job". I couldn't help but laugh. I have been wanting to post more but haven't been able to post due to the lack of a "cut & paste" function on the iPhone. That said, I have been watching both the DNC and RNC and have a few things to say about both.
First of all the DNC: if I have learned one thing from this, it is that super deligates should not dance in front of the camera. John Kerry delivered a killer speech which shattered the media myth that John McCain is a "maverick". I'm glad to see Kerry finally swinging back at the Republicans... Too bad it's not 2004. Obama delivered a killer speech that alleviated a lot of my concerns that he might pull a Kerry and try to out curtsy the fascist swine. But my favorite moment came from Joe "Hair Plugs" Biden when he accidentally called John McCain George Bush. This Freudian slip basically underscores McCain's shameful voting record of voting 90% with Bush in the past few years and the 100% lockstep record he has had voting this year with Bush. He truly would be a third term.
On to the RNC: The cheap political ploy of nominating a painfully inexperienced governor as a veep because she is a woman is just that. At first glance I couldn't believe McCain thought women would be as stupid as to vote with their vaginas, but Palin is not just a cheap attempt to portray his ticket as progressive. She is a Trojan horse for the religious right, as she is so bat shit crazy that she opposes abortion even in cases of rape and incest!!!. She also has a record of banning books from libraries, and using her power to settle personal family vendettas. Not to mention that despite claiming to crusade against pork and corruption she supported Senator Ted Stevens' bridge to nowhere debacle and maintains a close relationship with him.
Oh, and did I forget to mention that just a few months ago she admitted on national television that she had no idea what the Vice President does? But don't mention any of the afore mentioned because if you do you are a mysogynist. Yep not only is she trying to steal Hillary voters, she is stealing Hillary's former politcal strategies. But what did she have to say about Hillary's cry of misogyny during the primaries? She denounced it as whining.
So there you have the GOP's great white hope: a hypocritical, power abusing, lying, intolerant, inexperienced, ignoramus. In short, George Bush with in nice dress..
There is no "change" here.
