Why the left needs to get comfortable with guns...

FOX's Greg Gutfeld gushes over a Xmas card where kids are posing with hand guns and the father is pointing a gun at his wife.
"I like it because it scares the hell out of visiting Europeans who already think we’re crazy people and they think my god, we’re never invading this country. Number two: it’s a reminder to all you Occupy Wall Streeters that if there is a revolution, the other side is better armed."

They are itching for it, and unstable times encourage unstable people to do irrational and violent things. And when you have a "News" organization encouraging it and disseminating crazy like (M)Ann Coulter...

Myth of the Liberal Media

Noam Chomsky explains the myth of the Liberal Media™ and the fallacious "proofs" that support this claim.

Rise of The Conservative Media

Someone at Media Matters put this together to show how conservative media turns outright fabrications into memes, and even into stories that appear on other networks. If you are interested in learning this process in even more detail might I suggest watching Outfoxed: Rupert Murdoch's War on Journalism. Now I bring this up because right now the media is focusing on how the Obama administration has noted that Fox News is not really a news channel, but rather a media arm of the Republican party. The media is dutifully asking the question: is Obama going too far shutting out Fox? Personally, I don't think he is doing enough. They lied all summer about his health care plan and only now he says something? I am sick to death of Barack's Bipartisan Carebear routine, and would actually like to see him take these obstructionist whiners to the wood shed already.

Here is a real Democratic President calling out Chris Wallace's interview for what it is: a hit piece. Take notes Dems...

And yes, I am aware of Alan Grayson... I will blog about his pros and cons later.

Apparently UFO's are more important than Global Warming

At least that is what our "liberal media" would have you believe...
Excerpted from Sierra Club:
The climate crisis is the biggest challenge facing the next president. But the nation’s top reporters don’t seem to think so. In 2007, they asked 2275 questions. THREE questions mentioned global warming! Sign the petition: tell reporters to focus on the human race, not the horse race. What Are They Waiting for?

Of course when the Democratic debates are sponsored by the coal industry, this sort of crap doesn't come as such a surprise.

Media Matters: Black, White & Read All Over

It is a common canard used by the ideological right that the media is horribly slanted to the left and that anytime any policy or action is criticized by the media it can't be true because those dirty liberals like to lie about those poor conservatives. Of course anyone who actually keeps tabs on the media will quickly realize that is complete horseshit. Unfortunately most people do not have the time to watch news channels every minute of the day to make comparisons. Thankfully there are websites and groups who do such and a recent study shows that those rightwing crybabies who complain about not enough balance in the media are predictably full of shit.

Excerpted from Media Matters:
Sixty percent of the nation's daily newspapers print more conservative syndicated columnists every week than progressive syndicated columnists. Only 20 percent run more progressives than conservatives, while the remaining 20 percent are evenly balanced.

In a given week, nationally syndicated progressive columnists are published in newspapers with a combined total circulation of 125 million. Conservative columnists, on the other hand, are published in newspapers with a combined total circulation of more than 152 million.2

The top 10 columnists as ranked by the number of papers in which they are carried include five conservatives, two centrists, and only three progressives.

The top 10 columnists as ranked by the total circulation of the papers in which they are published also include five conservatives, two centrists, and only three progressives.

In 38 states, the conservative voice is greater than the progressive voice -- in other words, conservative columns reach more readers in total than progressive columns. In only 12 states is the progressive voice greater than the conservative voice.

In three out of the four broad regions of the country -- the West, the South, and the Midwest -- conservative syndicated columnists reach more readers than progressive syndicated columnists. Only in the Northeast do progressives reach more readers, and only by a margin of 2 percent.

In eight of the nine divisions into which the U.S. Census Bureau divides the country, conservative syndicated columnists reach more readers than progressive syndicated columnists in any given week. Only in the Middle Atlantic division do progressive columnists reach more readers each week.

This should be no suprise to those of us who pay attention. People with lot's of money run the media, and when they don't, like say publicly funded media, they try to bully publicly funded media into supporting their views.

Kieth Olberman & Joe Biden react to John Boehner's "Small Price" Comment

John Kerry makes a comment about Bush not getting a good education and it is immediately replayed on every 24 hour news station for days as an attack on the troops. Then it is reapeated on end until an apology and retraction are demanded, but when the Republican minority leader John Boehner claims the deaths of thousands of U.S. soldiers and billions of dollars lost daily are a "small price to pay" it barely gets any mention?!? WTF?!?

Seriously, the next Republican ditto-head to say that there is a "liberal bias" in the news earns a free trip to My-foot-up-your-ass-land.

The Columbus Dispatch's Cockroach cartoon

Can you here the drums? Close the window because I feel a draft. It seems old Ramirez is just plain keen on pushing propaganda for this illegal administration. If you like to send him a love letter, you can do so at these addresses:
