Obama to Bush: I Can Release Your Records. Don't Like It? Sue.
Excerpted from Mother Jones:
Meanwhile conservatives are ringing their hands over whether or not Obama is really the President because Chief Justice Roberts got the words wrong the first time, and the second time there were no cameras and a bible. So to all you Libertarian jack off who claim there is no difference between the two parties, take note.
On his first day in office, President Obama put former president Bush on notice. His administration just released an executive order that will make it difficult for Bush to shield his White House records--and those of former Vice President Dick Cheney--from public scrutiny by invoking the doctrine of executive privilege. Shortly after taking office, Bush handed down his own executive order, amending the Presidential Records Act to give current and past presidents, along with their heirs, veto power over the release of presidential records, which are considered the property of the American people.
"[Obama]'s putting former presidents on notice that if you want to continue a claim of executive privilege that [Obama] doesn't think is well-placed, you're going to have to go to court," says Anne Weismann, the chief counsel for Citizens for Ethics and Responsibility in Washington (CREW).

Obama picks Biden for VP.
I am not surprised by this at all, but this going to piss off a few people. For starters, I am not a fan of Joe Biden, but I think this will really really anger the Hillary P.U.M.A. crowd. I believe that an Obama/Clinton ticket would have brought a higher turn out come November, and Biden's negative is the same as Hillary's, that he is a career politician and hardly is a picture of "change". Not that I am a fan of Hillary, but we need her zealous followers' votes, and she doesn't put her foot in her mouth nearly as much as Biden.

WSJ: (Obama) Too Fit to be President?

More fine reporting from the bloviating douche bags at The Wall Street Journal:
The candidate has been criticized by opponents for appearing elitist or out of touch with average Americans. A Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll conducted in July shows Sen. Obama still lags behind Republican John McCain among white men and suburban women who say they can't relate to his background or perceived values.
"He's too new ... and he needs to put some meat on his bones," says Diana Koenig, 42, a housewife in Corpus Christi, Texas, who says she voted for Sen. Hillary Clinton in the Democratic primary.
"I won't vote for any beanpole guy," another Clinton supporter wrote last week on a Yahoo politics message board.
The last overweight president to be elected was 335-pound William Howard Taft in 1908. As for tall and lanky presidents, "you might have to go back to Abraham Lincoln" in 1860, says presidential historian Stephen Hess. "Most presidents were sort of in the middle."
Seriously, so now not only do we need our leaders to be intellectual duds but they have to have a beer gut as well. I weep for this nation. Hey Mainstream Media: Here's an idea, maybe you should be reporting on policy issues rather than potential headlines for the next Inquirer or Weekly World News... Or maybe you should just go with another sighting of Batboy.

Obama: "It's like they take pride in being ignorant."
Now if Obama could speak like this every time a stupid smear ad came up I wouldn't be so worried because the simple fact remains that a lot of Americans fall for stupid shit like tire gauges with "Obama's Energy Plan" written on them.

Telecom Immunity Treason Bill is passed.
Excerpted from Salon:
And all this time I had the Audacity of Hope that you would do the right thing and support the Fourth Amendment. Looks like I voted for the wrong contestant in the primaries. Still, I won't be a douche like the troll on my site and cut off my nose and vote for McSame, but my opinion of you is dwindling... much like our civil liberties.
The Democratic-led Congress this afternoon voted to put an end to the NSA spying scandal, as the Senate approved a bill -- approved last week by the House -- to immunize lawbreaking telecoms, terminate all pending lawsuits against them, and vest whole new warrantless eavesdropping powers in the President. The vote in favor of the new FISA bill was 69-28. Barack Obama joined every Senate Republican (and every House Republican other than one) by voting in favor of it, while his now-vanquished primary rival, Sen. Hillary Clinton, voted against it. John McCain wasn't present for any of the votes, but shared Obama's support for the bill. The bill will now be sent to an extremely happy George Bush, who already announced that he enthusiastically supports it, and he will sign it into law very shortly.

Obama is a Pledge Hating Under Cover Ninja Muslim Hell Bent on Destroying America
Ok, I jest about the ninja part, but I am really getting tired of the this meme. Disinformation like this is more powerful than people think. I was at the bar celebrating a friend's birthday when he started talking about why he won't vote for Obama. His reasons were that Obama is a Muslim, refused to recite the Pledge of Allegiance, went to a radical Muslim school (a Madrassa), and was sworn in on the Koran. So for those who are interested in keeping tabs the score is: False, false, false, and false. It is funny that the very same disinformation was found at my girlfriend's parent's house in the form of a chain e-mail printout to which I wrote "This is false. Check it out on snopes.com. Perhaps I sound like I am being to alarmist about ignorant e-mails, but this video shows how far reaching this same chain mail has been.
